Drinnen und Draußen 2005

The Low-Budget Work of Younger and

Really Young Filmmakers

The five No-Budget works of really very young filmmakers presented in this year‘s “Drinnen und Draußen program concern themes such as irritation, uncertainty and the search for a position as well as a place in the world.  They depict ways of life and question reality in ways that don’t give quick and easy answers, while leaving space open for speculation and consideration.  Opportunity for this, as well as the chance to ask questions, will be given immediately following the screening.

The short-film competition of the cultural departments of the Austrian provinces and the ORF

This competition offers young filmmakers a forum for working professionally with film.

For the third time the awarding of prizes will occur during the DIAGONALE. Films chosen by the jury to win awards this year will be screened.  From ecological danger to approaches in a chatroom, to work which plays with reality and the powers of imagination, these short films show a spectrum of the themes with which young filmmakers grapple throughout the country.

The age of participation is limited to 16-25, and the films were to have been made after the 1st of January 2004. (Barbara Fränzen)

A chance for creative talents

The resurrection of the dead, demonic cats, mysterious myths, corpses in the Wien river or strange and remote Alpine hotels: whoever has wanted to experience creepy, horrific, and chilling tales “made in Austria” can look forward to some good old-fashioned shuddering in ORF‘s programming.

To offer a chance for creative talent, ORF and the Austrian Film Institute initated the up-and-coming filmmaker project “8x45.”  Its goal is to discover film talent and enable their entry into professional filmmaking.

From 155 submissions, ORF and the Film Institute chose eight projects to be filmed in 2005, and broadcast on ORF in the future.
